The photos above show a Quad 33 fitted with our rear panel upgrade. We dismantle your old rear panel and de-solder all the

wiring from the old sockets. We then fit the new, completely re-engineered, back plate, along with gold plated RCA

connectors and fused IEC inlet & dual outlets. The new sockets are then rewired back in place. The old mains ribbon cable

is replaced with tri-rated cable. The new panel is powder coated and silk screened, to match the original panel colour, when

it was new. In place of the original plastic hinged doors, the rear slot-in ‘tape’ and ‘disc’ area, has a neat screening cover,

that screws neatly into place, via two captive bolts.

To send your 33 for service and rear panel upgrade, first read notes, 1 to 3 below. Use code, '33RPU' on your service

request form.

The specification of the new rear panel is as follows:

IEC switched fused mains inlet in place of original 3pin Bulgin plug and 20mm fuse holder.

Two IEC 3 pin 240V ac outlets to power Quad 3O3, tuner, etc. and 1 fused IEC mains inlet

The old 'tape replay' input is now labelled CD/DAC. The sensitivity is set for high output sources like CD/SACD/Blu-ray

and DAC output levels or you can still use it for tape replay. 'Radio 2' input is now labelled 'TV/MP3'.

The old tape record output is labelled 'Select Out'. Whatever source (Radio, MP3 or Disc) is selected a pre volume

signal is available as a monitoring/recording outlet.

The new panel overlay is professionally designed by Amplabs and manufactured in the UK.

The old serial number of your 33 is transferred onto the new rear panel in the area highlighted on the image.

Note1: The old sockets and plastic rear panel, removed from your Quad 33, will be returned to you, so please, if you are

sending it by courier, ensure there is enough room in your packing to accommodate it.

Note 2: Please ensure that your push button switches and card edge connectors are in good working condition, as we cannot fit NOS replacements, as they are no longer available. If you send a 33 for service and these items subsequently fail, we cannot accept them back for repair under warranty. We may be able to fit spares removed from a donor 33 but it will be chargeable as a new repair. If the 33 you send has faulty switches and/or edge connectors, that don’t respond to cleaning, we may be able to fit salvaged items but they will be charged on top of the service you have chosen. Note 3: If you use a Quad FM3, after fitting the rear panel upgrade to your 33, there will not be, a ‘Mono’ signal present on the Radio 1 input. This would require an additional RCA socket, making the panel too cluttered. We will, if requested, connect either the left, or right, signal to the mono input, so then, you will get sound, when you press the mono buttons, but it won’t be true mono. If you prefer a proper mono signal only, due to poor reception, we will happily make up a special FM3 to 33 lead, with the mono output of the FM3, wired to the L & R inputs.
